daThe Elk County Humane Society was founded by a group of concerned citizens in February, 2001.  We are now over 700 strong and still growing.  The purpose of the Humane Society is to provide effective means of preventing cruelty to animals in Elk County by fostering humane education, providing adoptive services, and assisting pet owners in obtaining spaying and neutering services.

Why does Elk County need a Humane Society?

We want to start a humane education program in the local schools to teach students the responsibility of owning a pet. Elk County currently has a high percentage of animal abuse.  We need to stop them before they happen.

Elk County needs an animal shelter so we can offer unwanted and neglected animals a second chance and not certain death.

What can you do?

Become a member (call 834-3247 for information).  Volunteer your time.  It doesn't have to be a lot.  Maybe man a booth, bake some cookies, and tell others about us.  If we all do a little, a lot will get done.  Attend meetings.  Bring a friend and share your ideas with us.
